Lane keep assist

Lane keep assist

Lane keep assist reduces the risk of accidents if the car unintentionally leaves its lane on a highway or a major road with clearly visible lane markings. The speed range of the function is 60–130 km/h. If the car crosses a lane marking without the direction indicator lights being used, either or both of the following happens:
The car is steered back into the lane.
The lane departure warning warns the driver through an audible signal or vibrations in the steering wheel.
The status of the lane keep assist function is shown on the driver display. See Driver display information.
In the following critical situations, the emergency lane keep assist function steers the car back to your lane:
The car leaves its lane when other motor vehicles are oncoming or overtaking in the adjacent lane posing a collision risk.
The car is about to cross the road edge.
Note: Forcibly steering over the lane markings manually overrides the lane keep assist and the emergency lane keep assist.
Note: Using the direction indicator lights does not override the emergency lane keep assist function.

Limitations of the lane keep assist function
Factors that might limit the function of the lane keep assist function include:
There are no lane markings, or several unclear lane markings are present for one lane, such as crossing lanes or around roadworks
The quality of the lane markings, lighting conditions, and environmental factors
Sharp edges or lines other than lane markings
  Sharp bends in the road
  Narrow roads
The distance to the vehicle in front is too short, obstructing the lane markings
Intervention by another driving safety system
An overly sporty driving style with high cornering speeds or high rates of acceleration
Any of the above factors can disable the lane keep assist function, causing it to enter standby mode until the working conditions are met. Once the conditions are met again, lane keep assist is automatically reactivated.
