The front cross traffic alert warns the driver about vehicles and motorcycles approaching from the sides when the car is driving forward out of a parking space or at a crossing. If an approaching vehicle or motorcycle is detected, there is a directional audible warning, followed by a warning on the driver display and the head-up display. If a collision is imminent, and the car is traveling between 4–60 km/h, the system activates the brakes.
The working speed range of the function is 4–60 km/h.
Note: The front cross traffic alert function can detect crossing vehicles or motorcycles traveling between 4–60 km/h.
Front cross traffic alert is active by default at the start of each journey, and cannot be independently disabled. It is disabled if collision mitigation support front is disabled.
Limitations of the front cross traffic alert function
Factors that might limit the front cross traffic alert function include:
|
• |
Objects that block the line of sight of the sensors |
|
• |
Dirt, ice, or snow build-up on the sensors |
|
• |
The car is not moving forward in the working speed of the function (4–60 km/h) |
|
• |
The crossing vehicle or motorcycle is not traveling within the working speed of the function (4–60 km/h) |
|
• |
Sudden, aggressive acceleration |
|
• |

The function cannot identify cyclists, pedestrians, animals, smaller vehicles, vehicles with irregular shapes, or oncoming vehicles.
Note: If any fault is detected with the function, the message FCTA function is unavailable appears in the driver display.
